Introduction

The main crystal phase of high-purity magnesia sand consists of periclase grains in polygonal form, with periclase grain boundaries tending to be straight. The silicate phases, including pores, are isolated at the junctions of periclase grains, and the main crystal phase grains are directly bonded. The grain size, shape, and distribution of periclase phases, as well as the mineral composition and distribution characteristics of silicate phases, significantly impact the material's high-temperature structural strength, corrosion resistance, and thermal shock resistance.

Advantage

High Purity: Featuring a high MgO content and low impurity levels, it ensures excellent chemical stability and high-temperature performance for subsequent products.

Dense Structure: Periclase crystals form direct bonds, endowing it with high density, strength, and robust slag resistance to effectively withstand erosive media like molten slag.

Process

The production mainly adopts the flotation-calcination method: using magnesite as the raw material, first performing flotation purification, then undergoing processes such as light burning, fine grinding, and ball pressing, and finally being calcined in an ultra-high-temperature oil-fired vertical kiln.

Application

It serves as the ideal raw material for producing alkaline bricks, Mg-Cr bricks, Mg-C bricks, tundish ramming materials, magnesia castables, and other high-grade magnesia refractories. These materials are widely applied in high-temperature industrial sectors such as steelmaking, non-ferrous metal smelting, glass manufacturing, and building materials.

Steel Metallurgy Industry

As a core raw material for high-grade magnesia refractories, it is used to manufacture Mg-C bricks, Mg-Cr bricks, magnesia-alumina spinel bricks, etc. These refractories are installed in critical areas of converters, electric arc furnaces, and LF refining furnaces-such as furnace linings and slag lines-where they resist high-temperature erosion and abrasion from molten steel and slag, extending the service life of smelting equipment. Additionally, it functions as a raw material for monolithic refractories (e.g., magnesia ramming materials and castables) for repairing and lining tundishes and hot metal runners.

Glass Industry

It plays a pivotal role in glass kiln masonry, used to fabricate refractories for regenerator checkerwork, pool walls, chest walls, and other components. Its excellent high-temperature resistance and glass melt corrosion resistance enable it to withstand the long-term high-temperature environment (over 1500°C) of glass kilns, ensuring stable kiln operation.

Cement Industry

Suitable for high-temperature zones like the burning and transition zones of cement rotary kilns, it acts as a raw material for refractory bricks or castables, resisting chemical erosion and high-temperature abrasion from cement clinker and kiln ash to maintain rotary kiln production efficiency.

Non-Ferrous Metal Smelting

In refractories for furnaces and electrolytic cells used in smelting non-ferrous metals (e.g., copper, aluminum, zinc), refractories made from 97 high-purity magnesia withstand erosion from molten metals and slags, providing stable furnace structures for smelting processes.
