Description
Coal Tar is dark viscous liquid obtained from coal carbonization. It is the raw material for coal tar pitch. It features high carbon content, good infiltration to carbon and magnesia aggregates. It can be used directly as binder for ramming mixes and taphole clay, or further distilled to produce coal tar pitch. After pyrolysis, it forms carbon bonding phase to improve hot strength and slag resistance of carbon-containing refractories. It is widely used for magnesia carbon brick and water-free taphole clay production. Custom viscosity grades are available.
