Water-free Taphole Clay is plastic taphole refractory compound without water. It adopts alumina, SiC, carbon aggregate with resin or tar binder. It features good plasticity, rapid sintering, high hot strength, excellent resistance to molten iron and slag erosion, low shrinkage and good volume stability. It is extruded into the taphole after tapping to form a dense mud column. No water vapor generation during heating, avoiding explosion, spalling and hydrogen risk. It maintains stable taphole depth and consistent tapping speed. Widely used for large and medium blast furnaces. Low tar and tar-free eco-friendly grades are available, custom formula acceptable.
